Training in Word Preaching Ministry
January 19–23, 2026

The National Biblical, Catechetical and Liturgical Centre (NBCLC), Bangalore, conducted a five-day Training in Word Preaching Ministry from 19 to 23 January 2026. A total of 31 participants from various parts of the country took part in this intensive spiritual and pastoral formation programme.

The programme began on 19 January with a prayer session led by participants, followed by the inaugural session presided over by Rev. Dr. John Baptist, Director of NBCLC. In his address, he emphasized the importance of the Word of God in daily life and highlighted NBCLC’s role in promoting biblical formation. Quoting Romans 9:6, he reminded the participants that the Word of God never fails. He also welcomed and introduced the resource person, Rev. Dr. Nysson Luka, Assistant Director of NBCLC.

The resource person conducted an orientation session, explaining the objectives and structure of the programme. The first day included personal sharing and self-introductions, allowing participants to reflect on their journey with the Word of God. Sessions focused on the importance of the Word, treasuring it in one’s heart following the example of Mother Mary, and understanding the relationship between the Word of God and the Church. The day concluded with Holy Mass, Word sharing, and intercessory prayers.

From 20 to 23 January, each day began with morning prayer and meditation, followed by Holy Mass. The sessions explored key biblical themes such as The Word Made Flesh, You Have the Words of Eternal Life, and the role of the Holy Spirit in the Word of God. Participants were also guided in practical methods of studying the Word through timelines and approaches, and in integrating it into their spiritual life and ministry.

Evening sessions included silent Holy Adoration, Word sharing, and practical training in preaching ministry. The programme fostered a spirit of prayer, reflection, active participation, and community learning, strengthening the participants’ confidence in proclaiming the Word.

The training concluded on 23 January with a tea gathering, followed by departure. The programme proved to be a spiritually enriching and pastorally empowering experience for all participants.
