Empowering the Faithful: A Synodal Journey in Lay Leadership at NBCLC

From April 19th to 24th, 2024, the National Biblical Catechetical and Liturgical Centre (NBCLC) in Bangalore became a crucible of lay empowerment, hosting the transformative Lay Leadership Camp, "A Synodal Way of Lay Leadership." This vital program, designed to conscientize and equip lay leaders, drew participants from 27 dioceses, creating a vibrant tapestry of diverse experiences and perspectives.

Rev. Fr. John Baptist, Director of NBCLC, inaugurated the camp, setting the stage for a week of profound learning and collaborative engagement. The camp featured a cadre of esteemed resource persons, including Mar Pauly Kannookkadan , Dr. Mareena Mathew, Prof. Deepu Jose, Prof. Dr. K.M. Francis, Rev. Dr. Benny Tharakkunnel CMI, Dr. Nysson Alanthanath, Dr. Rejoy Pazhayattil, Dr. Reju Varghese, Dr. Sonia Varghese, and H.E., each bringing unique expertise and insights to the program.

The camp's curriculum was meticulously crafted, encompassing a wide array of topics crucial for effective lay leadership. Participants delved into the principles of Christian leadership, explored the power and responsibility of media in the modern world, and examined the role of social and political interventions in building a just society. They gained insights into canon law, explored the depths of biblical studies, and deepened their understanding of catechesis and synodality.

The program was not merely a series of lectures; it was a dynamic and interactive experience. Participants actively engaged in debates, discussions, and collaborative sessions, fostering a spirit of shared learning and mutual enrichment.
