The Spiritual Renewal Retreat was commenced on January 5, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. with a
bhajan to the Holy Spirit by Sr. Sulekha. The Psalm 46 was recited by Sr. Pushpita, and
an opening prayer was led by Sr. Sneha.
The following members were invited for the lamp-lighting ceremony: Fr. John Baptist,
the Director; Fr. Jaison, the Retreat Preacher; Sr. Valsa SDP; Fr. Arul Swami; and Sr.
Pushpita.
The Director, Fr. John Baptist, introduced Fr. Jaison and extended a warm welcome to
him and to all the participants of the retreat.
The main session of the retreat:
1. The meaning of Epiphany: making the invisible to visible. God revealed his love
to us, and we are called to have an exclusive relationship with God alone.
2. Our Call (Vocation): The greatest gift of God to us is our call. Our body is the
temple of the Holy Spirit. We are all called to have the heart of God. Therefore,
love God with an undivided heart.
3. How to Make a Good Confession:
The General, individual confession, the seven Cardinal Sins, the Ten
Commandments, and the format for a good confession was explained
systematically. Thus, the sessions helped us make a full and sincere confession.
4. Sanctity: Eucharist is the source of our sanctity. The seven sacraments are the
means through which Jesus gives different graces for sanctity. The Eucharist is the
Sacrament of sacraments. The call narrative of the prophet Isaiah and posed the
question, "Why is the Eucharist not a burning experience for me?"
5. Plenary Indulgence: It is a grace that removes the temporal punishment for sins
that have already been forgiven.
6. Community Life: Every member in the community is a gift of God. Love every
member.
7. Prayer Life and Consecrated Life: Jesus often went up the mountain, the mountain
of Christian discipleship. Seek the face of Jesus, and your vocation will be safe.
Prayer should be the breath of the soul. The three levels of prayer: 1. Pray without
ceasing. 2. Rejoice in the Lord always 3. Thanking God for everything.
8. Personal Prayer: On the last day of the retreat, Fr. Jaison guided us on spending
time in personal prayer, suggesting choosing an appropriate time. The fullness of
personal prayer is described as: drunkenness without wine, power beyond human
capacity; it corrects our defectiveness, directs our actions, regulates our afflictions;
temptations vanish, sadness is driven away, and we become a furnace of divine
love. It is love that inspires us to spend time in prayer. We are consecrated to
prayer.
9. Mother Mary: The last session was about Mother Mary. We should learn from
Mary how to follow Jesus. The Rosary should be a weapon and is a spiritual
pilgrimage in which we contemplate the face of Jesus. Like Mary, we too are
called to be the beloved of Jesus. By holding the hands of Mary, our lives will be
sanctified.
10. Daily Adoration: Daily Adoration was conducted at 6:30 p.m., through which we
experienced the healing touch of Jesus. It was a tremendously beautiful experience
for each of us. We could see the holiness of Jesus in Fr. Jaison. Each of us had a
profound God experience.
Impression of the participants.
The Participants experienced a deep and meaningful connection with God, feeling the
"healing touch of Jesus" and perceiving his holiness, particularly during the daily
adoration, which was a very powerful and moving spiritual event that aimed to renew and
deepen their relationship with God.
