Report on the Pastoral Animation & Facilitation Skills Program

January 27th to February 1st, 2025

A program on pastoral animation and facilitation skills was conducted, focused on migration. The program took place from January 27th to February 1st, 2025. Key facilitation was provided by Fr. Alex and Fr. Saji from PAROC Institute, Trichur. The program was attended by 20 participants, comprising men and women religious.

The program emphasized animation and facilitation skills, pastoral and spiritual care, and the temporal needs of God's people, grounding its approach in an understanding of all Church activities in the world. Sessions covered a range of topics, including:

• Psycho-spiritual integration and maturity
• Sense of self and independent identity
• Deep personal openness
• Harmony between mind and heart
• The importance of families
• Taking responsibility for life
• Time management strategies
• Using the power of music
• Focusing on gratitude
• Pastoral care in the context of migration

The program presented the Church as a supportive and merciful community, a "hospital for the wounded," a friend to the fearful and anxious, and a place of care and mercy for the weak and children, embodying an open-hearted, maternal approach. It promoted a gentle and decent leadership style, characterized by accompanying others, listening, and attentiveness to people's challenges and attitudes.

The program highlighted the challenges of ministry in the modern context, including social media, ego, individualism, and self-sufficiency, and stressed the importance of patience. It emphasized that effective leadership, likened to a steadfast shepherd who protects the flock, is "victory," and identified the characteristics of a "victorious shepherd" as humility, listening, empathy, foresight, service, skill, and awareness of the past, present, and future.

Finally, the program offered guidance on personal development, encouraging participants to stop comparing themselves to others, maintain a positive outlook, accept compliments gracefully, cultivate positive relationships, identify paths to success, and celebrate achievements.

Certificates were distributed at the end of the program.
