From August 16th to September 12th, 2024, NBCLC became a sacred space for scriptural immersion, hosting a transformative four-week Bible course for 17 priests and sisters. This immersive program, designed to deepen their understanding of scripture, provided a comprehensive and enriching experience.
The course boasted an impressive array of resource persons, each bringing their unique expertise to the program. Fr. Nysson, Sr. Virginia, Fr. Joy Phillip, Fr. Joseph Titus, Fr. Shabu Joseph SDB, Fr. Alfred Joseph, Sr. Priya SMMI, Sr. Prema CSST, Mr. Sonichen, Fr. John Baptist, Fr. Raymond Joseph, Most Rev. Peter Abir, Fr. Yesu Karunanidhi, Fr. James Kadankavil, and Fr. Mario Mendes guided participants through the vast landscape of the Old and New Testaments.
The curriculum was meticulously structured, covering a comprehensive range of biblical topics. Participants explored the foundational texts of the Torah, delved into the prophetic messages of the Prophets, and contemplated the poetic beauty of the Psalms. They journeyed through the Gospels, gaining a deeper understanding of Jesus' life and teachings, and explored the theological depth of the Pauline Letters. They grappled with the symbolic language of Revelation and contemplated the wisdom of the Wisdom Literature.
Beyond content, the course emphasized practical tools for engaging with scripture. Participants learned various methods for biblical study and prayer, empowering them to approach the text with greater understanding and insight. The focus was on providing both theological depth and practical application, ensuring that participants could effectively interpret and apply biblical teachings in their ministries.
The overarching aim of the course was to enhance participants' ability to engage with scripture in a meaningful and transformative way. By providing a solid foundation in biblical studies and practical tools for interpretation, the course equipped participants to bring the power of the Word to their communities.
This four-week Bible course at NBCLC was a resounding success, leaving participants with a deeper appreciation for the richness and relevance of scripture. It empowered them to become more effective communicators of the Gospel, enriching their ministries and strengthening their connection with the living Word of God.
