Illuminating the Digital Path: NBCLC's Media Workshop Empowers Christian Ministry

February 27th to March 1st, 2024

From February 27th to March 1st, 2024, the National Biblical Catechetical and Liturgical Centre (NBCLC) in Bangalore became a hub of digital innovation, hosting a transformative workshop on "Media for Enhanced Christian Ministry." This dynamic program drew 31 participants, a diverse group of fathers, brothers, sisters, and lay people, all eager to harness the power of media for their ministerial outreach.

Under the expert guidance of resource persons, most notably Rev. Dr. Cyril Victor, the workshop provided a comprehensive exploration of media strategies tailored for the digital age. Participants were immersed in a rich curriculum, covering essential topics such as media literacy, equipping them to navigate the complex landscape of modern communication. They gained practical skills in social media navigation, learning how to leverage these platforms for effective evangelization and community building.

The workshop also delved into the art of journalistic writing, empowering participants to craft compelling narratives that resonate with their audiences. The introduction of AI tools opened new avenues for content creation and dissemination, while hands-on sessions in audiography/videography and digital storytelling provided practical experience in producing high-quality media. Notably, the program included a focus on using digital storytelling for vocation promotion, addressing a crucial need within the Church.

The participants didn't just passively absorb information; they actively engaged in practical exercises, writing press reports, and producing digital content, solidifying their newly acquired skills. This hands-on approach ensured that they left the workshop equipped to immediately apply their knowledge in their respective ministries.

Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the workshop's effectiveness in providing practical, relevant skills. They expressed deep appreciation for the comfortable and supportive learning environment provided by NBCLC, and gratitude for the opportunity to learn and develop their media creation abilities. This workshop was a resounding success, empowering Christian ministers to effectively communicate the Gospel in the digital age, fostering creativity, and expanding their outreach to new audiences.
