From June 4th to 7th, 2024, NBCLC Bangalore became a vital Centre for equipping leaders in the crucial ministry of family outreach and support. The seminar, expertly moderated by Rev. Fr. Arul Raj Gali, CSC, brought together 19 dedicated participants, a diverse group of religious sisters, priests, and laypersons, all united in their commitment to strengthening families within the Church.
The program featured a rich tapestry of insights from esteemed resource persons, including Fr. Nysson, Fr. Arul Raj Gali, lay couples Joe and Regina, Jimmy and Kim, Mr. Raja Shanmugham, and Verghese V. Joseph. Their sessions covered a comprehensive range of topics essential for effective family ministry. Participants explored the foundational question, "What is Family?", delving into the complexities of family dynamics within a modern context. They gained practical therapeutic tools, such as the use of genograms, to better understand family structures and patterns.
The seminar also addressed the critical aspects of child-rearing, equipping participants with strategies for nurturing healthy and thriving families. Counseling skills were emphasized, providing participants with the tools to offer compassionate and effective support to families facing challenges. Furthermore, the seminar tackled the vital issue of navigating the digital world, recognizing its profound impact on family life.
The overarching aim of the program was to enhance participants' pastoral skills and deepen their understanding of family dynamics within a Catholic framework. Participants engaged in lively discussions, sharing personal experiences and reflecting on the challenges and joys of family life. The program incorporated the insightful analysis of relevant films, including "Fireproof," "War Room," and "IrugaPatru," which provided concrete examples and sparked meaningful conversations.
