On 22nd April 2025, NBCLC, in collaboration with the Come to Me Children’s Prayer
Group, conducted a vibrant and spiritually enriching event titled Bible Adventure at the
National Biblical Catechetical and Liturgical Centre (NBCLC), Bengaluru. The event, held
from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, brought together children, parents, and dignitaries for a full day of
prayer, learning, creativity, and joyful fellowship.55 participants were gathered.
The day began with an opening prayer led by Catherine, centering the hearts of all present.
The Bible Enthronement by Amanda and Keith reminded everyone of the centrality of the
Word of God in our lives. The Lighting of the Lamp by Fr John Baptist, Sr Reetha Varghese,
Fr Vignan Das, Sr Margarita Dias, parents, and children symbolized the call to be light-
bearers in the world.
The inauguration by Fr John Baptist, National Director of NBCLC, included a touching
prayer for the repose of Pope Francis, emphasizing the value of remembrance and
intercession, and inviting the children to grow in love for the universal Church.
The welcome ceremony at 9:30 AM saw children present saplings to dignitaries, learning the
values of hospitality, respect, and care for creation. The celebration of Sr Reetha’s feast and
Fr John’s birthday taught the children to recognize and appreciate people in their lives.
Dignitaries present included:
Fr John Baptist (National Director, NBCLC)
Sr Reetha Varghese (Provincial Superior, Sisters of St Charles Borromeo)
Fr Vignan Das (Associate Director, Communio, CCBI)
Sr Margarita Dias (SCB)
Parents: Mrs Alphonsa and Mrs Geetha
Children: Calfina and Keerthi
During the inaugural talk at 10:00 AM, Fr John Baptist encouraged the children to love
Scripture and live it daily, while Sr Reetha inspired them with her message of joy, simplicity,
and service. The vote of thanks by Carol and Dhamini taught gratitude and acknowledgment
of others’ efforts.
Action songs like "J is for Jesus, O is for Others, Y is for You" taught children that true joy is
found in putting Jesus first, others second, and themselves last—a memorable lesson in
Christian living.
In the self-introduction activity, children played “Up-Down-Hand-Crush” to switch partners
and learn about one another. This helped them practice openness, communication, and
friendship.
During group dynamics, children were split into teams to build cooperation and trust. The
Importance of Joy session taught them that joy is a fruit of the Spirit, not just an emotion, and
they learned relevant Bible verses to memorize and carry with them.
At 11:00 AM, children and parents took a short snacks break, enjoying donuts and juice while
learning the importance of fellowship in simple shared moments.
After the break, children presented their group names creatively through actions and guessing
games. The activity nurtured their imagination and strengthened group identity. The parents’
game, “Finding the Couples,” encouraged bonding, laughter, and teamwork, with Mrs Peyana
and Mrs Kiran Mai emerging as joyful winners.
The Emmaus Experience in the garden was a beautiful spiritual moment, helping everyone
reflect on how God walks with us in everyday life. Each participant tied a word from
scripture to a tree, symbolizing how God's Word should be rooted in their lives.
The "Selfie with Jesus" activity reminded participants that Jesus is a friend they can always
turn to. The video presentations on biblical passages in nature taught children to find God in
creation and express their faith through digital storytelling.
At 12:30 PM, Bishop Ambrose addressed the gathering with warmth and encouragement,
reinforcing the importance of Scripture in daily life. He then blessed and distributed Bibles
and certificates, instilling a sense of purpose and commitment in the children. A group photo
and blessing prayer rounded off the morning beautifully.
Lunch at 1:00 PM was a joyful feast that everyone eagerly looked forward to. The meal
included chicken kebabs, chicken biryani, curds, and a sweet ending with ice cream. It was
not only delicious but also a reminder of God’s generous providence and the joy of sharing a
meal in community. Conversations flowed, laughter echoed, and bonds strengthened over
food lovingly prepared and served.
In the afternoon, the Treasure Hunt had children racing to solve clues based on biblical
knowledge, reinforcing scripture learning in a fun, engaging way.
Parents took part in the “Crossing the Red Sea” game, reminding them of God’s saving power
and encouraging family reflection on faith journeys. Winners included Mrs Maria Sangeeta
and Mrs Meriam.
Puzzles and crosswords challenged everyone’s minds and memory, encouraging a deeper
recall of Bible stories and characters. During the group sharing session, children reflected on
their experiences, learning the value of expressing gratitude and insights from the day.
The "Sweethearts in the Bible" quiz, to be completed at home, encouraged family bonding
through biblical learning. The balloon activity on the preciousness of name and life reminded
each child that they are uniquely loved and known by God, just like the individuals in the
Bible.
At 5:00 PM, the day concluded with a heartfelt prayer of thanksgiving, followed by snacks of
chips and cake, and a warm farewell.
Parents and children had a wonderful time learning and adventuring through the Bible with
lots of fun and meaningful activities. The whole group thoroughly enjoyed the experience and
returned home with deep satisfaction and gratitude to God for this beautiful opportunity.
The program was wonderfully anchored by Sr Margarita Dias SCB, whose dynamic presence
brought energy and guidance throughout the day. Sincere thanks were extended to Bishop
Ambrose, Fr John Baptist, and the entire NBCLC staff, as well as the Come to Me Children’s
Prayer Group, for their dedication, love, and service in making Bible Adventure 2025 a
