423 rd Colloquium of the CBCI Commission for Doctrine – 2017


“Iuvenescit Ecclesia”

Dynamism of the Gifts of Charism and Hierarchy in the Church was the theme of the colloquium held from 06 to 07 July 2017at the National Biblical, Catechetical & Liturgical Centre, Bangalore. It was organized by the Commission for Doctrine, under the auspices of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI).

His Beatitude Mar George Cardinal Alencherry Major Archbishop of Syro-Malabar Church, 14 Archbishop and Bishops together with 57 theologians attended the colloquium.

Rev. Fr. Sagaya John, the Director of the NBCLC welcomed the gathering.

Rev. Fr. Joseph Pamplany Secretary, CBCI Doctrinal Commission introduced the theme of the colloquium and welcomed the participants. The Colloquium was inaugurated by Cardinal Alencherry. In his inaugural address he gave an overview of the document Iuvenescit Ecclesia. Bishop Mar Joseph Kallarangatt Chairman, CBCI Doctrinal Commission in his own scholarly way explained the meaning and implications of Iuvenescit Ecclesia.





A book titled 'Theologizing in the Indian Context’ - Statements of the Indian Theological Association compiled and edited by Rev. Fr. Jacob Parappally MSFS was introduced to the assembly. It was solemnly released by Cardinal Alencherry.

On the following day (07-07-2017) several papers connected with the above mentioned theme were presented and discussed at length. There was also a panel discussion in the afternoon. The colloquium came to a happy conclusion by 4.00 p.m.
